Week 12 (October 28th-November 1st)
During week 12, I had the opportunity to participate in technology walk throughs. The purpose of the walk throughs was to observe how teachers were utilizing technology in their classrooms during their lessons. We spent about 15 minutes in each of the core subject area teachers' classrooms. Several teachers used Smart Boards, Elmo's, mobis, LCD projectors, and clickers. One teacher used a document camera. There was even one using an interactive PowerPoint. The assistant principal took notes and was able to give each teacher feedback later on during the day.

Week 11
Week 11 (October 21st-25th)
Week 11 was problematic
for our cafeteria manager. She had some minor computer problems. I had to end
up restarting her server and rebooting her computer in order to resolve her
issue. Another major problem that she had was with the lunch codes. They were
not automatically updating in the system. Some of the paid students got approved
for free lunch and the lunchbox program was supposed to sync with Inow to
update the codes. This did not happen. It turned out to be an Inow issue and I
had to contact the help desk for them to do a hot fix to resolve this issue. There
was another issue with the withdrawn students still showing up in the system
and causing the lunch counts to be off. This was another glitch in Inow. I
posted the problem on the board and waited on a return call. My attention was then
turned to the computer lab. All but one of the computers was finally working.
After consulting with my supervisor, we concluded that the memory was not
properly seated in the computer. I took a half personal day this week so that I
could shadow my supervisor and get in some much needed hours.

Week 10
Week 10 (October 14th-18th)
Week 10 was really an eye
opener for my practicum experience. I used to complain all of the time when I
had a computer problem and the tech guy was slow to respond. Now that I am no
longer on the outside looking in, I realize that the guys in the technology
department truly have their work cut out for them. Seemingly everyday there is
a problem with somebody’s computer that has to be investigated. I guess this is
good though because it keeps them with jobs. One teacher has been continuously
having problems with her email. We resolved this issue by recreating her email
profile. Another teacher had an issue with a new computer that she received. She
kept getting the message that the password needed to be updated. She did not
know the old password in order to reset it. She was thrilled when I removed the
old password and allowed her to set up a new one. There were also some phone
problems this week. We were no longer able to make long distance phone calls. I
observed as Mr. Fantroy made configuration changes and restored the ability to
make long distance calls. Week 10 came to an exciting end with me storing away
more knowledge of the things I encountered during the week.

Week 9
Week 9 (October 7th-11th)
During week 9, my
supervisor had some things he wanted me to help with so that he could check my
progress. One teacher in particular complained about issues with her computer.
We solved the problem by removing pop up toolbars. Another one had two computers
that would not connect to the Internet. We reinstalled explorer on the two
computers and the problem was solved. I observed him assist a teacher who had a
problem with her SmartBoard. It would not recognize the computer. Mr. Fantroy installed
software for USB VGA device. I really learned a lot this week.

Week 8
Week 8 (September 30th-October
4st)
During week 8, I got the
opportunity to attend a training on the Graduation Cohort/Dropout Rate. This was
very informative and I learned a lot. I learned how to input/code the data that
is very important for figuring the graduation rate for school. I learned just
how tedious the process really is and the presenter gave us some great tips on
keeping all of the data straight. I also got the opportunity this week to sit
in on a meeting in which the final touches were added to the revised technology
plan for the district.

Week 7
Week 7 (September 23-27th)
Week 7 was very
interesting because I got the opportunity to attend a training to learn how to
use the School Cast Message system. I learned how to manually update phone
numbers, send voice messages, text messages, and manage groups in the system.
Mostly the administrators in my school handle this, but just in case they ever
need me to do it. I now know how to operate the system. I also had the opportunity
to attend an advanced Kuder training. I learned more about the four year plans
that the students must have. I will be
doing some turn around training on this for the Career Preparedness teacher.

Week 6
Week 6 (September 16-20th)
Week 6 was very hectic because I
am the Building Test Coordinator and this week was the fall administration of
the Alabama High School Graduation Exam. I did not log any hours during school.
However, I did get some hours after school. My school district is offering free
ACT prep. I assisted students with setting up online accounts so they could access this
great resource. I also showed them two additional websites that offer free ACT
prep and assisted them in registering for these sites. I had a couple of senior
athletes that stayed and I assisted them with the online application for the
Wendy’s High School Heisman award.
